Disembodied Hippie Head on Kirby Road

Since I've been posting about Kirby Road, Selina Degasperis and the legends that surround the two I've gotten a couple of hits every day from all across North America and elsewhere. It seems there is indeed consistent interest in this case and so I'm glad this blog can be an educational spot in people's research, even if it disproves some of the more exciting but exaggerated stories told elsewhere on the web. To those unknown visitors stopping by, feel free to leave a comment on what brought you here or any experiences you've had personally on this road.

Unfortunately, I don't have too much more to add now except for an interesting find by a friend of mine when she was looking for Selina's tombstone on Google Street View:

It appears to be a disembodied head of sorts... He may also be a hippie. Now Google Street View is known to have its glitches so this could of course be one of those unexplained glitches. But it certainly is odd and perhaps of note in some way.

The anniversary of Selina's birthday is coming up the 15th of this month. She would have been 33. I'm trying to plan an outing on this night. For kicks, I also plan to make a mixed CD with the top hits from the week she died. Clearly, I'm not very experienced in this whole ghost hunting thing. But if I was a ghost and someone visited me on my birthday while playing "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" and "Whoomp! (There It Is)"... I'd respond.

  1. Hello there - when I was in high school, about 10 years ago, we used to go out to Kirby Road all the time. Usually to smoke joints or whatever, but we were almost obsessed with it. I even remember filming a short movie with us exploring the various houses and the tombstone.. This is back when ALL houses were standing. As "peculiar" as the Selina tombstone & accompanying house were, there was another house, on the other side of the road, that we found much, much scarier. It was across the road, and closer to Highway 50 I believe, but this as also another shackled up house that had been boarded up, but still able to be entered. There was an empty area for car storage across from this house as well. Inside this house there were tons of religious effigys and half-burned "prayer cards" scattered throughout the place, which was freaky enough, but even scarier was that outside in the vast backyard there was some kind of concrete "bunker" which lead underground. Inside the "bunker" there were rusted chains and hooks, and that's as far as we were willing to explore before running off, scared shitless. Either way, I just want to applaud you for keeping me entertained tonight, when I just happened to google about Kirby Road out of the blue and discovered all this information about it.

It really is a scary place, even if some of that Selina myth was "de bunked" a little bit. I assure you that the Selina-related house and tombstone is NOT the only scary place on Kirby.

It's unfortunate that various comments on the internet say most of it's been torn down now. I sure wouldn't want to be the poor bastards buying a house on those old lots...

Just out of curiosity - have you ever heard anything more about any of this? I notice your last post was January 2011

    Cheers man

  2. Thanks for the comment, R from Brampton. First I'll just say that I know this blog gets a lot of hits from people Googling Kirby Road but few people comment and share their stories which is unfortunate. So thanks again, your description was enough to give me the chills. Perhaps it's just the Halloween season, haha.

I have also heard through forums on the internet that one of the supposedly haunted houses was torn down. Consensus seems to be that it is the one known as the "hell house." In truth, I haven't been close to any of the actual houses though. I'll admit to being a little overly cautious on that part. I think I figured out the street address of one of the houses in question, a detail difficult to find online, but I'm not sure if I should post it (it seems someone does live there and probably has to deal with people like us all the time, haha)

Unfortunately, I have not heard much of anything since my last post. I tried to track down people who might know something about Selina DeGasperis but did not have much luck. My best lead was finding the woman I'm pretty sure was the bus driver to first stop at the scene of the accident on Facebook but she never replied to my message. I'll surely update soon if I ever have anything else to add.

    1. Hi there

I see the family of Selina DeGasperis once a year at a summer bbq. my father is also friends with her uncle that is a plumber and my grandparents know selina's grandparents from Italy. I don't no anymore then you do about the accident but it's cool how interested you are.

For school i have to film a 5 minute documentary and I'm thinking of doing this as my topic. If you have any more information you would like to share I'd gladly appreciate it. Did the bus driver ever contact you back?

    2. I know I am replying to this almost a full year late but thanks so much for your comment. No, I did not ever hear from the bus driver or anyone else I attempted contact with.

I've always wondered what the family thought of all the crazy rumours about their daughter. I can't imagine they're crazy about it but it'd be interesting to know how they feel nonetheless.
